The Zhuyuan (Bamboo Garden) Guesthouse Hotel is a classical Chinese garden-style structure in a quiet lane west of the Drum Tower in Beijing. The guesthouse was formerly the residence of Sheng Xuanhuai, the Minister of Post of the late Qing Dynasty(1644-1911). It is also said to be the garden of Li Lianying, a noted eunuch of the Qing Dynasty. Since the late Qing Dynasty, many celebrated Chinese people, including Ma Hansan, Dong Biwu, and Kang Sheng had lived in this guesthouse. The halls and pavillions in the building are linked by tortuous, long corridors, with a tranquil and elegant surrounding of bamboo groves, rockeries, and fountains.
The hotel sees blooming flowers in spring, colorful lanterns and green bamboo swaying in the breeze in summer and autumn, and pines and snows in winter, all making the hotel an ideal place to hold banquets and greet guests.

The restaurants mainly center on Chinese aristocrat dishes represented with the specialty of Xuanhuai bamboo tube chicken and others including braised sea cucumber with scallion, braised bean curd and catfish, toast weever in tinfoil, braised bean curd with seafood, flavored bitter melon salad and mimosa salad, which have been warmly received among both domestic and foreign guests. Over the years, the hotel has successfully hold banquets of various grades, including business banquets, news conference, wedding banquet, get-together parties, buffet and birthday parties. Zui Yang Xuan Banquet Hall, which comprises of the VIP Hall, Yang Yi Hall, Liu Hua Hall and Cui Zhu Hall, can hold 80 to 100 guests. The four halls, decorated in diversified styles and exquisite facilities, are able to hold various medium and high-grade banquets, buffets and parties. What is more, the Zero Point Restaurant of Fu Song Zhai and the Sunny Restaurant can respectively receive 100 guests for dinning. The Bamboo Garden Tea Bar situates at the lobby of 1F. At the tea house, the utensils for tea ceremony are of distinct Chinese styles, which, with the decoration of classical furniture of Ming & Qing style, present simple but elegant background for the guests to enjoy the tea. When tasting the tea, the guests would also enjoy the accompaniment of melodious traditional Chinese zither music and the swimming fishes in the fish tank.
