A: Essential Beijing Great Wall, Forbidden City and Tian'anmen Square
Description: Beijing is the capital of the People's Republic of China and has been an historic center of power, culture and wealth that continues to today. The tour starts at Tian'anmen Square and an overview of the communist influences on the country. You'll tour the grounds and see the array of halls and monuments.
From there we walk to the Forbidden City, also known as the Imperial Palace Museum. With over 180 acres and collection of great halls, you will see antiques and treasures representing all of China's history.
After a stop for lunch, you will visit the Badaling section of the Great Wall, one of the best preserved sections of this 2,000 years old architectural wonder. You will be able to climb the wall and take in the panoramic view of the top. During the day we will stop and shop the famous Longdi Jade Factory to get some beautiful bargains.
B: Emperor's Tour Forbidden City, Tian'anmen Square, Temple of Heaven and Summer Palace
Description: Beijing is a reflection of China itself, steeped in history from the very ancient to more modern events. This tour starts at Tian'anmen Square and China's more recent history influenced by Chairmen Mao and the rise of communism. From there it's on to the Forbidden City, originally commissioned by Emperor Yong Le in the Ming Dynasty. It has been the seat of power for centuries and has seen countless battles and reconstruction, and the architecture seen today dates from the 1700's. The Forbidden City is also known as the Imperial Palace Museum with all the art and splendor available for you to see.
After a delicious meal, it's on to the Temple of Heaven. TheTemple of Heaven is China's largest temple and altar complex, an extraordinary example of religious architecture dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties.
Your final destination has been the retreat of emperors for 800 years, the Summer Palace. In this park, you will explore the grounds, the temples and the world's longest art gallery. We will break up your busy day with scenic bus rides plus an unbeatable shopping experience at the Pearl Market.
C: World Wonder Tour Great Wall at Badaling, Ming Tombs and Longdi Jade Factory
Description: We've combined two of our most popular destinations north of Beijing into one unforgettable tour. First we drive to the sacred Ming Tombs, burial grounds to 13 of the 16 Ming Emperors. You'll explore the largest of the burial sites, the Changling Tomb, which is divided into three separate, impressive courtyards. After lunch, we drive to the Great Wall, the very symbol of ancient Chinese engineering. The Badaling section is a prime, preserved example of this colossal structure, and you will have the opportunity to climb up either the North or South Face of the Wall. During the day we will stop and shop at the world renowned Longdi Jade Factory.
D: Great Wall at Mutianyu 1/2 Day Tour (Cable Car Ride at the Wall, Beijing Cloisonné Factory)
Description: Mutianyu offers an alternative Great Wall experience compared to the popular Badaling section. This portion of China's ancient engineering marvel features an optional cable car ride, or an opportunity to climb more than 1,400 steps to the top. Mutianyu Great Wall is much steeper than Badaling Great Wall, and a more challenging climb. This section is older than Badaling and features outer and inner parapets and three watch towers. A visit to a nearby Cloisonné Factory is also included in this half day tour.
E: Tour I of Historic Beijing -Forbidden City, Tian'anmen Square, Temple of Heaven and Yuanlong Silk Store
Description: Beijing is an enormous city of nearly 15 million people, with one of the oldest cultures on Earth. So it's no wonder Gray Line has divided the city's vast history into two tours. Tour 1 begins at Tian'anmen Square, the more recent page from China's history book. You will tour the grounds where Tian'anmen Tower, Monument to the People's Heroes, Great Hall of the People and Chairman Mao's Monument are located.
Then it's on to the legendary Forbidden City, now known as the Imperial Palace Museum. The history of every dynasty is represented here throughout four palatial halls. Many of our tours see the highlights here, but this gives you the most in-depth visit.
After a substantial lunch, your final destination is the aptly named Temple of Heaven, dating from the 15th century. Built in the Ming and Qing dynasties, the Temple of Heaven was the center of prayer, traditional ceremonies and sacrificial rites.
It's a busy day, but will also include a visit to the Yuan-long Silk Store for a shopping experience not to be missed.
F: Tour II of Historic Beijing -Summer Palace, Lama Temple, Panda Garden and White Peacock Silk Carpet Factory
Description: Tour II of Historic Beijing begins at the Yonghe Lamasery and one of the best examples of the region's many sacred temples. Lama Temple reveals diverse architectural styles from Han, Mongolia, Manchuria and Tibet, and the impressive 60-feet Maitreya Buddha, carved from a single sandalwood tree. Then it's on to one of the highpoints of anyone visiting Beijing, a trip to the Zoo to see the frolicking Pandas, a living Chinese treasure.
After a stop for lunch, you'll then visit the emperor's retreat, the historic Summer Palace. Used for eight centuries, the Empress Dowager Cixi had the palace estate renovated in the 19th century, including the manmade lake we see today, and you'll stroll through one of Beijing's favorite parks. During the day, you will also go on a shopping excursion to the White Peacock Silk Carpet Factory.
We recommend you also take tour I, which is held on alternating days. Each is a complete tour and can be taken separately.
G: Essential Beijing Evening -Beijing Roast Duck Banquet & Chinese Acrobatic Show
Description: You will dine and be entertained in traditional fashion on this evening excursion. See the nightlife of Beijing and enjoy world famous Peking Duck. You'll discover the culinary secrets in carving the duck and eating it "Beijing style".
Your delicious dinner will be followed by exotic entertainment by a Chinese acrobatic troupe, as they display their elegant art form that has been performed for thousands of years.
H: Cultural & Local Attraction -Capital Museum, Hutong Courtyards & Family Visit, Rickshaw Tour, Gardens at Prince Gong's Mansion, Drum Tower, Tea House and Tea Ceremony
Description: Your tour starts at the Capital Museum, one of the best places |to learn about the history and culture of China's capital city.
The museum is divided into two halls, each with six floors of exhibits. You can learn about ancient Beijing and the thousands of years of customs and culture, then see extraordinary collections of historic objects including statue, jade, bronzes and more.
After lunch at a local restaurant, it's a visit to the magnificent gardens at Prince Gong's mansion, Beijing's largest and the best preserved Qing Dynasty royal mansion.
Next, you'll then take to the streets of old Beijing by rickshaw, also known as a pedicab. This portion of the tour allows you to get a taste of life in the city as your driver pedals through the old, narrow streets, or hutongs. It includes a stop to visit the home of a real Chinese family and climb to the top of an old drum tower for a bird's eye view of the area.
